Serban Porumbescu will be with us talking about Cocos2d, and creating 2D games, in his “Introduction to 2D Game Programming with cocos2d” session.
-cocos2d is one of the most popular open source projects for the iphone
- over 100 games shipped, with a number of them in the top 10
- This introductory course will get you up to speed on:
- Basic architecture of the engine
- Using Sprites and their more efficient counterpart, AtlasSprites
- User interaction (dealing with touch and multitouch events)
- Particle system
- Screen transitions
- Actions
This session will be great for people looking to get into game development. Sure 3D is awesome, but we all start somewhere, and plenty of awesome games (My personal faves) are 2D games.
Make sure you check out Serban’s session and get your brain topped off on cocos2D awesomeness and game dev!
Make sure you register before we sell out! Register now to ensure you have a spot at the best iPhone developer conference in the world! Yeah, world! You’re not going to get better hands-on and technical content anywhere else.

I just started developing a new card game using Cocos2D and already my first day into it I have 9 cards flying around the table. Really amazingly simple yet powerful graphics library… can't wait for the talk!
