
PhoneGap Training – A hands-on session on how to use your HTML/Javascript skills to do some phone dev

We’re VERY excited to announce the first, of hopefully a few training sessions. For those not familiar with 360|Conferences, one thing we try to do is get some hands on sessions in during the conference. This way you can get your hands dirty with some great technologies while you’re at the show. The PhoneGap Project: Designing for the Device Neutral Mobile Web
Designed at this year’s iPhoneDevCamp, PhoneGap is an open source initiative for bringing native device capabilities to mobile browsers. With PhoneGap, developers can author applications in HTML and Javascript while still taking advantage of native mobile device capabilities, such as geo location, camera, vibration, local storage, sound and more. PhoneGap runs on a variety of mobile platforms including iPhone, Android and Blackberry.
In this three-hour workshop, attendees will become familiar with the PhoneGap framework, and will learn how to build applications and contribute back to the PhoneGap project.

Brock Whitten is a software developer at Nitobi Inc. He is one of the brains behind PhoneGap and recently presented on PhoneGap at MobileCamp Vancouver. Brock wants to see developers get really creative now that the barrier of entry for developing on mobile devices is getting increasingly lower.
Rob Ellis is a developer at Nitobi Inc. As one of the PhoneGap creators, Rob is focused on trying to make mobile device app development easy and open. At Nitobi, Rob is part of a team that makes web applications easier to use by building software that allows both developers and end-users be more effective.
Brian LeRoux is a software architect at Nitobi Inc. where he focuses on building custom applications. He is an expert in Ajax, Ruby, Rails and a whole host of open source technologies.
